This name is frequently attributed to Bailey (1842, pl. 2: fig. 11); however, according to CAS: "Error of Mills: the name is not used by Bailey 1842 (ref. 000116). Bailey illustrates an unnamed Actinocyclus specimen on pl. 2, fig, 11, that was later named Actinocyclus undulatus by Kützing 1844, p. 132 (ref. 000595)." The name was effectively published by Kützing (1844: 132) who cited Bailey's pl. 2: fig. 11. The same error was made by Hustedt and others. - (24 Feb 2016) - M.D. Guiry
