Type locality: "Pond in Botanic Garden, Belfast, 1850, Dr. Dickie." [Belfast Botanic Gardens, Belfast, Northern Ireland] (Smith 1853: 72). Lectotype (designated by Van de Vijver & Williams 2022: 2): Dr Dickie; pond. BR slide BR VI-46-B11 (Van de Vijver & Williams 2022: 2).
